How to customize the browser tab icon for your dashboard.

Overview​

The favicon is a small but important part of your brand identity. LibreApps Desktop makes it easy to replace the default favicon with your own.

How to Update​

1. Prepare Your Favicon​

Create a favicon.ico file. We recommend a size of 32x32 or 64x64 pixels. You can use online tools to convert your logo into an .ico format.

2. Place in Assets Directory​

Copy your favicon to rebrand/assets/:

cp my-brand-favicon.ico rebrand/assets/favicon.ico

3. Run the Rebrand Engine​

./scripts/build-rebrand.sh

Advanced: Multi-Size Favicons​

For better support across different devices and browsers, you can also provide:

  • apple-touch-icon.png (180x180)
  • favicon-32x32.png
  • favicon-16x16.png

The rebrand engine will automatically detect these files and update the HTML <head> section of your application.

Best Practices​

  • ✅ Do this: Use a simple, recognizable version of your logo for the favicon.
  • ✅ Do this: Test your favicon in both light and dark browser themes.
  • ❌ Don't do this: Use a complex logo with lots of detail; it will become unrecognizable at small sizes.
