Example: Basic Rebrand

A walkthrough of a standard rebranding project.

Overview

In this example, we'll transform the default LibreApps Desktop into a custom dashboard for a fictional company called "DataPulse".

Scenario

  • App Name: DataPulse Analytics
  • Company Name: DataPulse Inc.
  • Primary Color: Deep Blue
  • Theme: Core (Purple/Blue OKLCH)
  • Logo: Custom SVG logo

Implementation Steps

1. Configure Settings

Update rebrand/settings.md:

## Core Information
- **App Name**: DataPulse Analytics
- **Company Name**: DataPulse Inc.
- **Theme Name**: Core

2. Add Assets

Place the DataPulse logo in rebrand/assets/logo.svg.

3. Run the Engine

./scripts/build-rebrand.sh

4. Start the Rebranded Server

./scripts/start-rebrand.sh

This launches the rebranded build at http://localhost:3002.

5. Verify Results

  • Open http://localhost:3002 in your browser.
  • Confirm the title bar says "DataPulse Analytics".
  • Check the footer for "DataPulse Inc.".
  • Verify that the primary color scheme is now the deep purple/blue of the "Core" theme.
  • Confirm the DataPulse logo is visible in the sidebar.

Best Practices

  • Do this: Use a high-quality SVG for the logo to ensure it looks professional.
  • Do this: Double-check the spelling of your company and app names in settings.md.
  • Don't do this: Forget to run the rebrand script after making changes; the dashboard won't update automatically.
